Volvo Penta Safety Recall - Throttle problem

3.0L and 4.3L Carbureted Gasoline Sterndrive Engines
April 15, serial numbers affected have been expanded.
All previously inspected carbs, need to be re-inspected
(except those already sent to Volvo for repair)
"Volvo Penta recently discovered that the engines listed below
may contain carburetors with improperly fastened throttle plate retaining screws.
If these screws back out, the throttle may stick in the open position when the engine is operated,
resulting in loss of throttle control by the operator."

If you have one of these engines, please contact an authorized dealer before operating it.
Demon™ carbs were also sold as parts for use on earlier engine models.
Check with your dealer if you have had carburetor replaced.
WARNING! This service must be performed before the engine is operated.
Required service has two steps:
First an inspection to see if carb needs repair.
If it fails inspection, then carb must be removed and returned to Volvo.
It cannot be repaired on site.
You may be 'boat down' for several weeks, so do not delay this inspection!
When contacted by owners, dealers are required to perform this service at no cost to the customer.
However, travel time for mechanic is not covered by this recall
