A Prayer for Peace NC #570 (vs. 6)
Opening Prayer
Leader: Almighty and most merciful God, we give thanks that you know us and love us.
People: We thank you that we can know your presence in the rising of the sun and in the scent of a flower holding the promise of spring.
Leader: We thank you that we can know your presence in the healing of hurts and in the forgiveness of sins.
People: We thank you that we can know your presence in the shower of love that comes from Jesus Christ.
Leader: Help us, through the power of your Holy Spirit, to grow deeper, wider, and fuller in our knowledge and understanding of your ways.
People: As we grow in you, help us to bring others closer to you and to Jesus Christ our Lord.
Hymn NC #4 Joyful, Joyful
Responsive Prayer
Leader: Merciful God, forgive us for the many things that keep us from becoming the people you created us to be.
People: Merciful God, forgive us for the many ways we neglect your presence in our lives. Forgive us for our many sins. (Silence)
Leader: We thank you, Lord, for your promise of forgiveness. Clothe us with your grace, when we stand before you, ashamed of the actions and attitudes that strip us of our honor and dignity.
People: Reform us into your likeness once again. Reclaim us as your own when we drift away from your call in our lives.
Leader: Creator and creating God, mold us, remold us, hold us close, that we might be a forgiven and forgiving people.
People: Let your acceptance and forgiveness waft over us like a warm breeze, your calm and comfort surround and cradle us.
Leader: Let your love, Lord, fill us with joy so that our smiles shine bright. Let your light gleam in our eyes, that others may see you in our hearts and in our actions.
People: Let your light shine through the simple gifts of friendship and family. May we be strengthened by our gathering and inspired by your light.
