SILENT ART AUCTION
Orientation and Information for Artists 
 Event Schedule

As a Champlain Valley artist, you are invited to participate in the Saturday, July 5, 2008 Plein Air Event from 8 am to 11 am. Please select a location in the Champlain Valley that you would enjoy drawing or painting outside in the open air. You’ll be given a balloon so interested persons can follow the Balloon Trail to see you and other artists at work.

In the afternoon, you are invited to open your studio to the public for a Studio Tour from 2 to 5 pm. You may participate in one or both of these activities. The Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks will publish in the 2008 Arts Directory a center-fold map showing both your Balloon Trail and Studio Tour Locations. July 5 is a great opportunity to show off your work process and talk to potential buyers for your art.

Plan to take your Plein Air artwork home to develop it fully in preparation for an Art Show with an Opening Reception July 31, from 5 to 7 pm. at Heritage House. Meadowmount School of Music will perform a Thursday Evening Concert in Ballard Park at 7:30 pm. (In case of rain, in the Chapel at Heritage House.)

July 31, Opening Reception for Plein Air Art Show at Heritage House, 5 to 7 pm
Featuring artwork developed from the open-air experience
August 9, Silent Auction, conc1udes 1 to 3 pm

ART SALES
Auction sales will benefit the artist (50%) and Heritage House (30%)
(20% will go toward Art Show/Auction advertising and promotion

    Artists receive
       Balloons and “Plein Air Artist” or “Artist Studio” Signs
       Plein Air/ Studio Tour, Art Show - Silent Auction Invitations to give to friends, family, potential art buyers
• July 5, Plein Air, 8 to 11 am & Studio Tour, 2 to 5 pm
• July 10, Deadline for Artists to mail bio and artist statement for Show Program
      to the Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks, PO Box 187, Westport Heritage House, 645 Main Street, Westport, NY 12993.
• July 28, Finished artwork
            Framed and ready to be displayed due at Heritage House, from 10 to 4 pm
• July 31, Opening Reception for Art Show 5 to 7 pm, Silent Auction Bidding Begins
• August 9, Silent Auction concludes from 1 to 3 pm. Winners announced at 3 pm.
                          Art may be purchased by winners and taken home after 3 pm.
• August 11 &12, Auction payments may continue, artwork claimed.
      Unsold art = claimed by artist, noon to 4 pm. Problems? Call ACNA 518-962-8778.

 GUIDELINES CHECK LIST

√ All artists are responsible for delivering and picking up their art work at designated times.

√ All art will be shown at Heritage House on July 31 and may not be removed until after auction on August 9, when buyers pick up sold art and artists may collect unsold art. The Chamber will mail checks to artists for sold art.

√ Artwork will be insured by the Arts Council for the Northern Adirondacks while stored at Heritage House from July 28 thru August 12. Artwork not picked up will no longer be insured after August 12.
